State Institutions in Indonesia


1. Executive Agency

   - President and Vice President: Act as head of state and head of government, responsible for implementing laws, managing foreign policy, and supreme command of the armed forces.

   - Ministries: Government units headed by ministers, responsible for implementing policies in specific areas such as health, education, and finance.


2. Legislative Institution

   - People's Consultative Assembly (MPR): The highest state institution with the authority to amend and enact the Constitution, as well as inaugurate the President and Vice President.

   - People's Representative Council (DPR): The institution whose function is to make laws, supervise the government, and determine the state budget.

   - Regional Representative Council (DPD): Institution that represents regional interests in the legislative process at the national level.


3. Judicial Institution

   - Supreme Court (MA): The institution that holds the highest judicial authority in general courts, religious courts, military courts and state administrative courts.

   - Constitutional Court (MK): Has the authority to adjudicate at the first and final level decisions regarding the constitutionality of laws, disputes over the authority of state institutions, the dissolution of political parties, and election results.

   - Judicial Commission (KY): Institution whose function is to maintain and uphold the honor, dignity and behavior of judges.


4. Independent and Ad Hoc Institutions

   - General Election Commission (KPU): Institution tasked with holding free, honest and fair elections.

   - Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK): Institution tasked with eradicating criminal acts of corruption in a professional, intensive and sustainable manner.

   - Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia: Institution tasked with supervising the implementation of public services, both those carried out by the government and the private sector.

State institutions in Indonesia consist of various organs that carry out executive, legislative, judicial functions, as well as independent and ad hoc institutions. Each of these institutions has an important role in maintaining the balance and smooth running of government and the life of the nation and state.
